This study mainly analyzes the influence of factors such as the crown of the furnace roller, the length of the middle platform area of ​​the furnace roller, and the roughness of the roller surface on the buckling of the strip when heat treating thin strip in a continuous annealing furnace. The rotating furnace roller produces a compression effect on the width direction of the strip, which will cause the strip to bend and wrinkle. The wrinkles may cause thermal buckling after passing through the furnace roller. A formula for calculating the critical tension of buckling is derived. The formula shows that the critical buckling stress is proportional to [(strip thickness × yield strength)/(furnace roller crown × friction factor)]2.
